Privacy policy

Tokiwa Labo Japanese is a project of Tokiwa Labo (“we”, “us”). This page explains what we collect when you join our waitlist at learn-japanese.tokiwa-labo.com, and what we do with it. In short: we only collect what we need to tell you when the app launches, and we never sell it.

What we collect

• Your email address.
• The JLPT level you're studying for, if you choose to tell us.
• Which link brought you to the site (for example, which of our YouTube videos), if the link included that information.
• The date and time you signed up.

We don't use advertising cookies. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for a short time for security and troubleshooting.

Analytics (only if you allow it)

When you first visit, we ask whether we may use Google Analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, the link that brought you here, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city or country). We use this only to understand how people find and use the site. Google processes this data on our behalf; you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

If you decline, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the home page. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage.

How we use it

• To email you about the app: early access, the launch, and occasional updates.
• To understand which levels people need most, so we know what to build first.
• To see which videos and links bring people to the site, and how visitors use it (if you allow analytics).

We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

Where it's stored

Your information is stored with Google Cloud, which hosts this site, on servers in the United States. We use Resend to send our emails; it processes your email address only to deliver them on our behalf. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics data is processed by Google.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while the waitlist and the app are active, or until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe, whichever comes first.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from any email we send. You can also email us at hello@tokiwa-labo.com to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, and we'll honor them.

Children

This site isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we'll also let you know by email.
